The Best Advice I’ve Ever Heard for Creators—And Why It Matters in Real Life Too
We often hear advice tailored for creators—how to grow, stay consistent, or stand out. The best advice I’ve come across isn’t just for content.
“If you don’t keep going, you won’t know what opportunities are there.” One of my favorite travel YouTubers Kara & Nate were on a podcast & said this on the episode. It’s so simple. It’s been said over & over a million ways. I feel like this is so motivating for creators experiencing burnout or hesitation to even start. Same goes for life! We can’t see the entire mountain. We don’t know what’s looming ahead, around the corner, or what will be years from now. If we stop, we are taking away opportunities that could’ve been or that were headed your way. I think this is such a refreshing take to always remember. Rest, pivot, adjust, but do not quit.
“If you are not consistent, you have not found what your thing is yet!” Tess Barclay who has a podcast called Busy Blooming said this in one way or another on one episode (definitely not verbatim). She comes from over 10 years of marketing experience in the corporate setting dealing with hundreds of brands & clients behind & in front of the camera, & she has her own company for a couple years now. She is probably one of the realest voices out there, & I highly recommend you watch some of her episodes on YouTube as a creator. This statement is so true for content & life. If we are not interested in what we are talking about for content, we will always end up quitting or putting it to the side. For real life, you can apply this to all of your interests, career path, & soul journey in general.
“Embrace the cringe.” This is also from Tess, but I want to talk about it separately. I think a lot of impostor syndrome comes up when you put yourself out there online or IRL. You are going to have to trust yourself so much & literally drown out the noise, all of it. You are not here to prove anything to anyone. You are not here to prove anything right or wrong in a world determined to divide. You are here to embody you on the highest level. Unfortunately, you are going to trigger people the more you start to embody your most authentic self. It often times, whether people know it or not, triggers the parts of them that gave up, that never tried, that refuses to believe in magic, determined to stay the same, etc…something in your freedom & liberation will ruffle some said & unsaid feathers. Embrace it all. It’s not your job or focus to mend these unliberated fractals of those people. They have their own journey. Your job is to embrace your cringe of really putting all of you out there. Embrace your voice. Embrace your stories. Embrace your perspective. The world needs more of it!
These are the main 3 that has really sparked something in me lately. We listen to so many things, right? Sometimes it takes our readiness & willingness to listen for something to land. There are so many podcasts, thought leaders, YouTubers, authors, creators, & a lot of whom are talking about the same topics, themes, lessons, & experiences, but they all do it in a different way. We are all seeking our own versions of happiness as spiritual beings having very human experiences. I think creativity is within every single person here on Earth. Some people are courageous & bold, some have sleeping giants inside of them waiting for them to wake up, & some are somewhere in the middle in between waking up & making bold choices. My hope is that you are starting to ask questions, get curious, get creative, get bold, get collaborative, get all sorts of ideas! We are in a creator & consumer culture. This mountaineer said it best in one of the lifestyle documentaries I watched recently, “we are in a consumer vs creator economy, & I want to be the one who gets to tell the story & lives out these stories.”
